Dino Buzzati was an Italian novelist, short-story writer, journalist, and artist whose fiction blends realism with fantasy, mystery, and existential unease. A longtime journalist with Corriere della Sera, he is best known for The Tartar Steppe. His stories often explore waiting, fate, fear, isolation, and the intrusion of the strange into ordinary life.
