
Ratan Nath Sarshar (1846-1903)
Ratan Nath Sarshar was an Indian Urdu novelist from Lucknow. He is famous for Fasana-e-Azad, the first Urdu serial novel. His writing captured 19th-century Delhi and Lucknow culture with wit and satire. He pioneered modern Urdu fiction and journalism, influencing the style of later Urdu prose. He also translated Tales of Arabian Nights into Urdu.
